Debbie Briem, MA, LMFT
Debbie Briem holds a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and is a licensed as a marriage and family therapist in the State of California (#48656). Debbie also has extensive training in substance use disorders and drug counseling through UCLA.
Debbie’s work began early on for a well-known non-profit organization in Santa Monica, CA where she wore multiple hats. Her responsibilities ranged from managing staff, working directly with homeless women and children, educating teens about the perils of addiction, and assisting families acquire mental health services throughout the greater Los Angeles County. Additionally, she has been a community advocate for health and wellness by serving on several boards and committees in West Los Angeles.
Her skills and passions transitioned to working with Milestone’s Ranch Malibu, a premier dual diagnosis treatment center, as clinical director, where services specialized in attending to acute care with an emphasis on exploring the underlying causes of one's addiction and linking the family for all around healing.
Her years of informed skills have led her to understand and appreciate the emotional complexities underlying mental health patterns/behaviors and the subsequent challenges life can present. She has helped many untangle the chaos, bitterness, and grief that accompany mental health challenges.
Her approach is interactive and her theoretical style is tailored to the meet the diverse needs of each individual served. She practices from a range of modalities including mindfulness, DBT, CBT, breath work, narrative, family systems, and stage of change approaches. Many of her clients report prompt relief even after the first meeting.
