Intensive Outpatient Program Q & A

What is an intensive outpatient program?

The intensive outpatient program led by Dr. Amiri is the core of the Connect Wellness practice. Dr. Amiri and his team are committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need to overcome the challenges of living with a mental health condition and free yourself from the bounds of distress.

This 36-session program takes place over the course of 90 days. You may enter the program at any point in the curriculum. The team at Connect Wellness may increase or decrease the intensity of your treatment based on an individual assessment as well as your progress over time.

Who is the intensive outpatient program for?

The team at Connect Wellness treats a wide range of mental health disorders in the intensive outpatient program, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Substance use disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder

For your convenience, the team offers the program in the evening to help you deal with the day’s stress in a timely manner. This also makes it easier for you to go to work or school, take care of your family, and complete your daily routine before attending the program.

What does the intensive outpatient program involve?

First, Dr. Amiri or a member of his team performs a thorough evaluation to identify the biological, psychological, and social aspects of your mental health. Then they develop an individualized treatment plan. They measure progress with both qualitative and quantitative indicators to make sure you’re moving closer to established goals during the program, and they revise your treatment plan as necessary.

The team at Connect Wellness utilizes evidence-based approaches to treatment in their intensive outpatient program, including:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT)

You participate in small treatment groups of 6-8 people, so each patient receives direct attention from the group facilitators. You may also receive individual therapy in addition to, but not in place of, group therapy. Alternatively, you may continue to see your own therapist for continuity while attending groups at Connect Wellness.

If you need assistance in finding other specialists for further treatment or medication management, the team helps you with that as well. To learn more about this highly effective and unique program, call Connect Wellness or book an appointment online today.
